Traditional Methods Oil Painting

Join us for our 4 week course in which we will dymystify this painting medium + and teach you from the basics using traditional methods, taking you forward to a more confident painter!

This is a great launch pad so that you can begin developing your own style, providing you with fundamental skills in which to develop your skills, using techniques and references from both the old masters + contemporary influences.

We will establish a basic traditional colour palette and you will learn how to mix oil paint, what mediums to use and also how to take care of your tools + equipment. We will cover the fundamentals of drawing, planning your painting, proportions, light, shadow and value before we turn to colour mixing and selecting the correct colour palette.

There is structured but relaxed learning method to help you reach your goals as you continue to practice and develop skills, working from observation and imagination.

By the end of the course you will be able to: Make choices about subject matter and composition in observational sketches and have a good understanding of the fundamental processes of oil painting skills that you can develope with oils or transfer to other mediums.

It's time to practice in an non-judgemental and friendly environment. Time to play and enjoy the process of oil painting.
