Artreach Exeutive Director Alice Carron Interviewed by CNN About the Film "Sani Dez Bah: Navajo Women Warriors"

CNN interviewed Artreach Executive Director Alice Carron about the creation of the documenatary film Sani Dez Bah: Navajo Women Warriors which was produced in legal partnership with the Navajo Nation.

"honored was Alice Carron ... who recently produced a documentary on Navajo women veterans ... that portrays the role of women in protecting their families. Carron was also given a rug by the Navajo women veterans, and encouraged to continue documenting stories that feature heroism."

Artreach Begins Producation on Feature Length Film About Special Education

Artreach in cooperation with the Kellar Institute for Human disAbilites, has received a contract to create a feature length documentary about the GMU special education LIFE program. This builds upon the previous work that the two orgranizations performed together in the creation of a 20 minute film in 2005 titled The Mason LIFE Program.

"The Mason LIFE Program is a post secondary program at George Mason University for young adults with intellectual disabilities who desire a college-like experience in a supportive environment. The Mason LIFE Program is the first program of its kind on a four-year public university campus."

Bridging the Appalachian Cherokee Nation with NASA

Artreach has received a grant from NASA to begin coordinating a relationship between the Appalachian Cherokee Nation and NASA scientists and E/PO personnel. The sessions are taking place at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, MD.

Recent Events

Artreach Presenting at National Indian Education Association

Artreach, in conjunction with our partner the Navajo Nation, will be presenting the results of our recently completed project, funded through a grant from NASA, to the National Indian Education Association, the oldest and largest Indian education representing American Indian, Alaska Natives, and Native Hawaiian educators and students. The conference will be in Anchorage, Alaska, October 19th through the 22nd to celebrate NIEA's 37th Annual Convention.

Artreach Premieres "So Bahane': Story of the Stars" At AIFF

Artreach, in conjunction with our partner the Navajo Nation, as well as the NASA Astrobiology Institute, will be premiering our film "So' Bahane': Story of the Stars" for the general public at the 31st American Indian Film Festival in San Francisco, from November 3 - 11. If you are interested in attending the festival, put on by the American Indian Film Institute, please visit the AIFI website.

Artreach Presenting with NASA at Astronomical Society of the Pacific (ASP) 2006 Annual Conference

Artreach, in conjunction with the NASA Astrobiology Institute, presents September 16 –18, 2006 at the Astronomical Society of the Pacific (ASP) 2006 Annual Conference. Artreach Employees Are Now GMU Adjunct Professors

Artreach is pleased to announce that two of our employees, CEO Alice Carron and Technical Director Daniel Tillman, are now adjunct professors at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA. They will be co-teaching two special study courses through the New Century College: "Documentary Filmmaking" as well as " Native Americans as Portrayed in Film."
