Dr. Emanuel Horowitz, Johns Hopkins University Research Professor


During WWII Dr. Emanuel Horowitz served as a B-29 navigator with the 315th Bomb Wing, Twentieth Air Force, stationed at Northwest Field on Guam. After the war he returned to the City College of New York and obtained his undergraduate degree in chemistry. Then he completed his graduate work at George Washington University, earning a Ph.D. in polymer chemistry.

Dr. Horowitz was employed at the National Bureau of Standards, now the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) for 29 years as a research chemist and later as the Deputy Director of the Institute for Materials Research and the National Measurement Laboratory. In 1980 he joined the faculty of Johns Hopkins University and is currently a research professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering and teaches courses in biomaterials.

Commander Patricia L. Beckman, United States Navy (Retired)


Commander Patricia L. Beckman, USN (Ret.) is a Past President of Women Military Aviators, Inc. (WMA), is a founding board member of Women in Aviation, International (WAI), and is also a founding board member of the Sino-American Aviation Heritage Foundation (SAAHF).

Trish spent over 28 years on active duty in the Navy (8 years enlisted and 20 years as an officer). As a Naval Flight Officer (NFO, or Navigator), she has flown in 67 types of military aircraft. Her primary aircraft qualifications were in the EC-130Q, F/A-18D, E-6A, S-3A/B, and F-15E. She holds FAA licenses as an Aircraft Dispatcher and a Flight Navigator.She flies as a System Operator (similar to flight engineer) for production test flights of the Boeing 737, and as a Navigator for production ferry flights and engineering test flights. Additionally, she has flown as an aerial photographer in the company's T-38 aircraft.

Besides being a graduate of the US Naval Test Pilot School, Trish also instructed there. She has a BS in Aerospace Engineering (North Carolina State University), an MS in Aeronautical Engineering (Naval Postgraduate School), and a Masters in Business Administration (MBA, Webster University).

Leland Anthony Jr., Traditional Navajo Practitioner


Leland Anthony Jr. is a Traditional Navajo Practitioner and sheepherder. He has participated as an advisor and counselor for numerous Artreach projects involving the Navajo Nation. He has provided traditional guidance and support for such productions as "Sani Dez Bah: Navajo Women Warriors" and "So' ba hane': Story of the Stars" and has been an active team member at numerous educational conferences, community events, and seminars.
